Hotet mot ovissheten

‘Hotet mot ovissheten’ (‘The Threat to Uncertainty’ in English, but I’m writing it in Swedish), the title which this blog is based on, is my seemingly eternally ongoing novel project. It’s a sci-fi story that takes place on another planet – Homak – which is similar to our own in many ways, but oh so different in many others. The plot centers around a man that becomes a spy for one of the planet’s two major powers. As he struggles to do what he thinks is right (or convince himself that he’s doing just that), he will find that the best intentions in the world are sometimes simply not enough.
The project. The novel. ‘Nuff said.
I can only hope that it turns out to be just as good as I imagine it will.
After having put up several deadlines for when I’m supposed to have a first draft finished (and broken them all) I’ve come to realize there isn’t much point in trying to be finished at a certain date, not least due to the sheer scope of it all. As of March 2007 I’m working on the third chapter, but it’s hard to determine how far in the project as a whole I’ve progressed. It’s only a first draft, and the novel has grown to be more complex than I first envisioned it to be. Thus, I’m unable to say when it will be ready for submission to the publishers. Year(s), probably. My patience is far too small for me to devote all my writing-time to the novel. This means that during this time I will produce several smaller projects, which not only means that I can receive feedback on my style, but also become more matured as a writer. One thing’s certain: the novel has been in my head for a few years already, and I’ve still not lost interest in it. It will be written, but I’m not going to rush it. It’s going to get the time it deserves.

I’d love to see what you have so far on the novel. I am expecting great things.

I’m writing the novel in Swedish, but I talk quite a bit about it in previous posts (in English). Sorry that it wasn’t more clear. I’ve edited the post.
